Happy to show you how
Toronto-based Creative Planning Financial Group invited me to share Philanthropic strategies with their partners and associates last week.
I explained many powerful strategies we use to help clients leave a lasting legacy while supporting the charitable causes they care about, often by converting taxes to generous charitable gifts.
We covered CPP Philanthropy™, GiftMAXIMIZER™, PolicyPRESERVER™, Private Company Share Donation Strategy, Flow Through Shares, Donor Advised Funds, Leveraged Charitable Arrangements and more.
Jeff Andreas of CHNL radio in Kamloops B.C. interviewed me yesterday on his NL Newsday show.
Our 16 minute conversation focused on Philanthropy and how people want to be remembered.
That may sound pretty morbid - our talk was anything but.
I was recently interviewed by radio host Brian Crombie of CKNT “Sauga 960” on the subject of Philanthropy.
We covered a lot of ground, including a discussion of tax-efficient strategies for people to be generous (and a lot of personal anecdotes).
A video of the show is now available at our YouTube channel.
Investor’s Digest of Canada published my article “Check your finances just as you’d visit the doctor”.
It explains the importance of understanding the details of insurance policies you currently own, and presents several important planning opportunities to consider now.
Despite 30 years of professional practice it continues to amaze me that so many successful people don’t know what they own until it’s brought to their attention, and sometimes it’s an ugly surprise.
The TaxLetter® just published “All In the Family - Make A Family Participation Plan”
It explains the importance of family dynamics, and why a well-articulated participation plan can ensure family harmony and drama-free intergenerational wealth transitions.
The article describes some current best practices in estate planning and explains a strategy to acquire life insurance without tying up company money.
With more than $1.5 trillion in assets expected to change hands during the next 10 years, and most businesses wholly unprepared for succession, there has never been a better time to begin the discussion or update existing planning.
“Why Philanthropy is a Good Investment: It’s not always obvious”.
That’s the title of my recently published article in the Spring 2021 issue of Total Finance Magazine, Canada’s magazine for financial executives.
It describes several giving strategies and explains the accompanying financial benefits available to generous people.
Delighted to announce I’ve been asked to join the newly formed Professional Advisor Task Force at St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation.
My dear friend and fellow MFA-P Mike Flux of Connor, Clark & Lunn Private Capital Ltd., a dedicated, long-time St. Michael’s donor and volunteer, is spearheading this important initiative.
Over 30 years of professional practice I’ve been telling clients to get Critical Illness Insurance and Long Tern Disability Insurance as part of their protection portfolio.
Why? There is a 5 x greater likelihood of getting sick before age 65 versus dying.
I have had 19 Critical Illness claims to date, thank G-d only one of the claimants died and not one of my client claims has ever been denied.
That’s the title of my latest article published in The TaxLetter®
It recognizes significant tax increases ahead and presents several opportunities to preserve wealth and lessen the tax bite now.
Eli, my eldest son’s best friend, graduated 6 months ago from York U
He was desperately seeking his 1st job in an accounting firm and was losing hope.
I told him to select 20-30 CPAs from my LinkedIn contacts and send a message saying he was my family friend and was “looking for work”.
