As a member of St. Joe’s Promise Legacy Council, it’s especially gratifying to share ideas that raise money for the hospital while helping people convert taxes to charitable gifts.
My zoom presentation on June 16 was titled “Create YOUR Family Legacy: Maximize Giving, Minimize Taxes”
I explained how we create Accidental Philanthropists™ and presented several wonderful ways to be remembered for leaving more to charity and family instead of a large sum to the tax department.
Many thanks to Maria Dyck, Steven Presser, Carrie Gemmell and the entire Foundation team for organizing such a successful event.
If you are involved in Philanthropy, I’d be delighted to speak to your colleagues and community.
Delighted to announce that Steve Lloyd, Publisher of Foundation Magazine, has invited me to write a regular column on Philanthropy.
My column is called "The Accidental Philanthropist”.
Here is my inaugural article “Fundraising In Challenging Times”.
It’s a great publication.

Most people celebrate their birthday with cakes and gifts.
Ryan Walsh decided to MAKE a great gift to celebrate his 40th birthday.
Last week he donated a brand new, fully outfitted ambulance to Magen David Adom in Israel.
Thanks to Hershel Recht, Regional Director of Canadian Magen David Adom for Israel for connecting us after Ryan’s request.
At 39 years old, Ryan is the youngest donor EVER to have bought an ambulance via Canadian Magen David Adom for Israel.
Hershel, like many other non-profits we work with, introduces me as their "Legacy Process Consultant" to help Major Donors give in the most cost and tax-effective way.
Delighted to announce I’ve been asked to join the newly formed Professional Advisor Task Force at St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation.
My dear friend and fellow MFA-P Mike Flux of Connor, Clark & Lunn Private Capital Ltd., a dedicated, long-time St. Michael’s donor and volunteer, is spearheading this important initiative.
The Professional Advisor Task Force will consist of leading lawyers, accountants, financial planners, insurance advisors and other estate professionals who are committed to providing strategic advice and supporting the hospital’s important work by promoting philanthropy through their professional practice.
That’s the title of my latest article published in The TaxLetter®
It recognizes significant tax increases ahead and presents several opportunities to preserve wealth and lessen the tax bite now.
As we patiently await our vaccines and the re-opening of world economies, right now is the perfect time to focus on “incompletions” in your estate planning, including wills, powers of attorney and life insurance.
Now, for the first time ever, our clients can get up to $5 million of Life Insurance with NO medical underwriting, NO blood/urine samples and NO in-person meetings, all in a 15 minute phone call.
They are topping up coverage and buying new policies for spouses, children and grandchildren for basic protection, estate tax planning or charitable giving.
Delighted to announce WEALTHinsurance.com’s corporate partnership with SickKids
The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto is a 70-year-old national treasure.
I’ve lost track of the number of times our family, friends and clients have turned to SickKids for help.
Becoming a corporate partner this year was an easy decision: Send $ to the tax department or make a charitable gift to a cause we are passionate about – what could be simpler?
As a member of the Professional Advisors Council SickKids Foundation since 2018, it’s been my pleasure to help reach their ambitious goal to raise $1.3 Billion and build a new SickKids.
Special thanks to Kevin Goldthorp and Kelly Trickett for their incredible leadership
