Monday October 22, 2018

I hope you are well and enjoying the cooler fall weather.

Sharing good fortune has forever been the foundation of philanthropy, and we Canadians (widely known for our generosity) are so fortunate to live in this big and wonderful country!

Philanthropy is a rapidly growing segment of our insurance and estate planning practice, now enjoying our 27th year.

We help charitable people support their favourite causes in more meaningful ways, using creative and tax-advantaged giving strategies.

On the other side of the giving ledger, we also help a wide range of charities raise much-needed funds, helping with the design, development and implementation of charitable giving programs.

Given the opportunity to become more charitable instead of paying more taxes, most people choose to be remembered for their generosity instead of their tax bills.

Their presentation “How to Minimize Taxes and Maximize Giving” explained how generous people can support favourite causes using money that would otherwise go to the tax department.

Our friends at Zoomer Media (Classical FM and Zoomer Radio) and MPL Communications (publishers of The TaxLetter® and Investors Digest) provided media support and deserve special thanks.

September 20

The Canadian Association of Gift Planners, in collaboration with the Toronto Foundation, Vancouver Foundation and others, asked Mark to participate in the development of a research report to examine how professional advisors incorporate philanthropy into their practice.

Mark was one of 13 professionals from across Canada profiled in the report.

Strategic Philanthropy is a wonderful way for generous people to be very charitable with the blessing of the tax department. Converting tax dollars into significant gifts for the causes our clients are passionate about is the most gratifying part of our practice.

You don’t have to be rich to teach the importance of charitable values to children and grandchildren by example.
